84. . Shooting guard . Sacramento Kings. Tyrese Maxey . 11. player

It may be tempting for the Sacramento Kings to draft a point guard like Killian Hayes with this pick, but with De’Aaron Fox and Corey Joseph already in the rotation, they’d be better suited using the MLE in free agency to pick up a third man.

Drafting Tyrese Maxey would be a move that helps them win now. It’d also benefit them in longevity, considering by the time Buddy Hield‘s contract is up he’ll be 33 years old and presumably on a decline. A Fox/Maxey back court could be a force in the future.

2020 Draft profile: Tyrese Maxey. light. Related Story

Maxey is a medium to high volume shooter who possesses the necessary skills to take a team to the next level. He’s a quality rebounder given his size, and can adequately defend either guard on defense.

He’s also a reliable pick and roll defender.

Maxey’s not particularly great at creating his own shot, and often needs to rely on others to do it for him. His handles are good, but not great. This is where having facilitators like Fox and Joseph around could come in handy.

Fans were put on notice immediately as to how lethal he can be, after scoring 26 points in Kentucky’s opening game of the season against Michigan State. He did it on 58.3 percent shooting.
