Detroit Pistons: Predicting the 5 most Impactful players
Jerami Grant
2. Jerami Grant
I can’t tell you how good Jerami Grant will be with the Detroit Pistons, but I can tell you this won’t be Josh Smith 2.0.
Sure, we’ve seen players in the past come to Detroit on a huge deal, looking for a larger role, and, to put it delicately, not exactly panning out.
The former Syracuse standout has proven from his time in Denver and Oklahoma City that he can be an extremely effective player, without commanding a premium offensive load.
Grant is a long, versatile defender who can run the transition and consistently make open shots. He shot a very solid 39% from three-point land last season, but that could be due to the playmakers Denver had on offense.
At age 26, Grant seems to be stepping into his prime with something to prove. Expect his volume to go up, and efficiency numbers to take a dip, but not to the point where he will be a liability. The way Grant plays is hard and smart on both sides of the floor. He will no doubt make this team better.
If the Pistons can stay relatively healthy, and provide playmakers around Grant to get him easy opportunities, where he’s thrived in the past, this could be a competitive team. We’ll see how big of a step he makes.
