Detroit Pistons: Sekou Doumbouya is earning time

Sekou Doumbouya has been in and out of the rotation all season and many fans thought he should be traded at the deadline.

I was not nearly there yet and Doumbouya is starting to show why over the last few games. He’s been getting more run and actually doing something with it, making plays in the open court, playing better on the defensive end and being more aggressive taking the ball to the basket.

Here’s what Dwane Casey had to say after the game:

He also added that Sekou has been putting in the work to get back on the floor:

This is exactly what I was hoping would happen, as Doumbouya is still only 20-years-old, so it is far too early to know what he can be.

We as fans are not privy to what happens in practice behind closed doors, so it is nice to know that Doumbouya is putting in the work and earning minutes in Casey’s eyes.

I was impressed with Doumbouya’s rim protection last night, as he had a couple of nice blocks and added two steals as well.

Right now, Doumbouya just needs to keep playing hard on the defensive end and running the floor, and hopefully he can go into the offseason with some positive momentum.
