Detroit Pistons: The Pistons need a consistent scoring threat

The Detroit Pistons defense has been pretty solid this season and has gotten much better since they got rid of Blake Griffin.

This is impressive considering they’ve run about a million different lineups and defense is built upon communication and knowing where your teammates are going to be.

Once the Pistons settle on a rotation for next season, they could make a leap to a top-10 defense with the guys they have.

What they lack is consistent scoring. In my opinion, Jerami Grant is not a number one scoring option even though he is very close. He has put up big numbers for Detroit this season but Detroit needs another guy who can consistently get 20 points per game.

Hopefully they will find that guy with their first-round pick in the NBA Draft, but if not, they might have to try and trade for one or find a value in free agency as they did with Grant.

They need a guy who can get his own shot, a guy who routinely draws double teams that their other players can utilize to get open, a guy who other teams have to account for at all times.

Killian Hayes is still a pass-first guard at this stage of his career, so it would be nice for them to find a consistent scorer to go along with him.

I really love his fit with Jalen Green and think Green could be that guy if the Pistons end up with a top-five pick that is not number one overall.

The Detroit Pistons aren’t far from being good and with the right offseason could make a leap next season.
