Detroit Pistons: Free agents on the Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are another team that won’t have many free agents that would interest the Detroit Pistons. If the Pistons were a little further along in their rebuild, they might make a play for Carmelo Anthony to finally undo the great wrong of the 2003 NBA Draft, but they aren’t.

One player who might get some interest is Harry Giles, who hasn’t played much but has shown tantalizing potential as a rim runner and shot blocker. The Pistons could use some rim protection and Giles is only 23, so he might be worth a flyer.

NBA Free Agents: Nicolo Melli of the Dallas Mavericks

The Pistons could use some low-cost shooting and Nicolo Melli could potentially provide it. Melli is not a good defender but he tries hard and can shoot the 3-point shot, though you wouldn’t know it from this season. Melli was in a season-long slump before being traded by the New Orleans Pelicans and hasn’t been much better for Dallas.

If he doesn’t improve, he’ll be out of the league, but the Pistons could potentially offer him a two-way or a minimum contract to see if he can re-discover his shooting touch.
