3. Detroit Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart is a better scorer

‘Beef Stew’ has yet to average double digits, but Draymond has only done it four times . Over his career, Green averages more points, but his numbers didn’t take off until Steph Curry became league MVP. Surrounded by all-time great scorers like Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant gave Green plenty of open looks down low.

Stewart did not have that luxury.

Despite all those open looks gifted to him, Green has only managed to shoot .509 from two-point range in his career, with .562 being his highest. Stewart has already managed .592, which puts him in some elite company. From beyond the arc, Stewart shoots better but Green shoots more, and I, begrudgingly, respect that he isn’t afraid to pull the trigger. Green has always been a better free-throw shooter, which at the current rate will remain for Stewart’s entire career. He just can’t hit shots from the charity stripe right now.

2. Stewart already outplays Green

OK, maybe “outplays” is a bit of a stretch

The Pistons played the Warriors twice this year, but Green only suited up for one of them. The Pistons got beat handily of course in that game, but Stewart had an impressive effort. He scored eight points on good shooting, snagged five boards, and got two blocks for good measure. All of this happened in only 20 minutes.

Green didn’t play poorly. He only had four points and missed three shots, but he also added five rebounds and six assists. On the defensive end, he also got a steal.

While the stat-line seemed to be fairly even, that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Isaiah Stewart held James Wiseman to a bad shooting night, while Draymond Green allowed Jerami Grant to lead the way in scoring for Detroit.

The game was bad if you’re a Pistons fan, they lost by 27 points (and Rodney McGruder got dunked on by Green after the game), but it was a good sign for Beef Stew, especially given that the game was played on December 29, early in the season.
