Detroit Pistons: Drafting Cade Cunningham with the #1 pick in the NBA Draft

Congratulations! You have done the safe and smart thing by ignoring the trade offers and drafting the guy most people believe should be the number one pick.

Cunningham is a 6-foot-8 point guard who can score from the post to the 3-point line and play defense on just about anyone. He is a smart player who studies the game and has a desire for greatness. Cunningham has superstar potential and you don’t pass that up.

He is the perfect guy to construct your rebuild around and he’ll make everyone else on the team better.

Here is your rotation:

  • PG- Killian Hayes/Saben Lee
  • SG- Cade Cunningham/Hamidou Diallo/Frank Jackson
  • SF- Saddiq Bey/Josh Jackson
  • PF- Jerami Grant/Sekou Doumbouya
  • C- Isaiah Stewart/Mason Plumlee

You are going to war with a long, athletic team that should be very good defensively. You still lack shooting, especially off the bench, but you can address that with trades and free agency.

This is the team the Detroit Pistons are most likely to have following the 2021 NBA Draft, but it is not the only option.
