Detroit Pistons: Drafting Scottie Barnes with the #6 pick in the NBA Draft

You have drafted Scottie Barnes, who is not a bad choice. In fact, I think he is my favorite pick outside of the top four for the Detroit Pistons, as he embodies everything that Troy Weaver is trying to build.

You must think culture and defense matter more than offense to take Barnes, as he doesn’t have the highest offensive ceiling as a scorer but could be an elite defender and you just upgraded your scoring with SGA anyway.

  • PG- Killian Hayes/Saben Lee
  • SG- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander/Hamidou Diallo/Frank Jackson
  • SF- Saddiq Bey/Josh Jackson
  • PF- Jerami Grant/Scottie Barnes/Sekou Doumbouya
  • C-Isaiah Stewart/Mason Plumlee

You have built a pretty well-balanced roster here, as you have an elite scorer in SGA, a couple of shooters around him and have a long, versatile defense that should be able to match up with just about anyone.

You’ve also pocketed two future first round picks that you can use to make further trades or eventually add more impact talent to your roster. You better hope SGA doesn’t change his mind and that he re-signs in Detroit, otherwise you are going to be in the lottery for the foreseeable future and gave up the chance at a superstar to get Scottie Barnes and two future picks.
