Detroit Pistons: Drafting Evan Mobley with the #2 pick in the NBA Draft

I think there are a lot of people who would make this move, as Mobley has a chance to be special and fits right in with what the Detroit Pistons are building.

Troy Weaver does have a thing for bigs, so this is a move I wouldn’t entirely rule out, though this trade with Houston is probably not the way he would go about it.

  • PG- Killian Hayes/Saben Lee
  • SG- Josh Jackson/Hamidou Diallo/Frank Jackson
  • SF- Saddiq Bey/ Jae’Sean Tate
  • PF- Jerami Grant/Sekou Doumbouya
  • C-Evan Mobley/ Isaiah Stewart/Mason Plumlee

Shooting guard took a big hit with this choice, as how Jackson or Diallo has to start but you have a dynamic and potentially elite defensive front court with Grant, Stewart and Mobley.

If Mobley ends up evolving into more of a stretch-five, you now have the perfect guy to pair with Beef Stew long term. Your guard play isn’t as good, and this is a guard/wing league, so you have chosen to zig towards size when everyone else is zagging towards the perimeter.

The Detroit Pistons tried this once before with disastrous results, so you are really taking a chance here.
