Detroit Pistons: 3 things to look for in Summer League
Detroit Pistons Summer League: Get to know Deividas Sirvydis
The Lithuanian inked a three year deal last off-season after being the 37th pick in the 2019 draft. Sirvydis is a modern day wing listed at 6’9 with a decent enough handle to find his shot. He is now a 21-year-old looking to build off the limited minutes received late last season. This summer gives him the opportunity to show the coaching staff he’s ready to take another step in his development.
Guys like this are what summer league is all about, as he is talented but just needs more experience. He’ll be someone you’ll see playing off of Cade in Las Vegas at least for the few games Cunningham will play. Utilizing him in pick and rolls and floor spacing with Cunningham could create positive results. If the two can build some chemistry it could pay dividends in his attempt to make his claim off the bench. He shot close to thirty six percent from three in his rookie season making the most of his opportunities. He showed flashes creating off the dribble with his euro step when he was ran off the three point line.
He could be a top scorer for the Detroit Pistons in the Las Vegas classic. Look for him to play well having the edge over other players. His experience playing in actual NBA games and his participation in the 2019 summer league event will bode well. There’s not many players with NBA experience so he better make his mark. Take advantage of this opportunity even if it is just summer league.
