Detroit Pistons: This is Cade Cunningham’s team

No offense meant to any of the other Pistons’ young players, but Cade Cunningham is the only one of them that has a chance to be a superstar.

The Pistons haven’t had a true franchise cornerstone in a very long time, so all of Casey’s moves need to be made to facilitate Cunningham’s growth as a player.

This is his team, and it should look like it, with Cade doing most of the ball handling, playmaking and shooting. I don’t care if he has some off nights, turns the ball over too much or misses a lot of shots, Coach Casey has to let him learn, get better and push this team to the next level.

I don’t need to see a lot of experimenting with Cunningham and Killian Hayes,. If it is not working, put Hayes on the bench, as Cade should not be standing in the corner waiting to shoot just so that he can play with Killian.

Coach Casey should put the best possible lineup around Cunningham to help him succeed, even if that means someone else has to get their minutes cut or go to the bench.

This is a team sport and the Detroit Pistons have some other very good young players, but in the end, it’s Cunningham that is going to lead them out of the cycle of mediocrity they’ve been stuck in for well over a decade, so hand him the keys and get out of the way.
