I have decided to treat myself to a new Detroit Pistons jersey this season which is always a tough decision.

Buying an NBA jersey is no small purchase, not only are they expensive, but there is the inherent risk that you buy the jersey of a player who ends up being a bust or isn’t with the team for very long.

That’s why you’ll occasionally see fans wearing Josh Smith or Andre Drummond jerseys at LCA; once you pay that much for something, you are going to wear it, even if you are now repping a player who is on another team or out of league altogether.

It’s been tough to justify a Pistons jersey in recent years, as there just wasn’t a player who looked like he might be good or stick with the team long term. I am sure all of you looking at that Luke Kennard jersey hanging in your closet are shaking your heads in disgust.

Detroit Pistons jerseys: New players bring risk

With some exciting young talent in Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes, the Pistons finally have some jersey options for fans, but young players always come with risk.

Remember when we thought Rodney Stuckey was the next big thing? Remember All-Rookie team member Brandon Knight?

That’s why the safest bet is to always go with an old school jersey of your favorite player from the past, a player whose trajectory you already know.

I am torn between the new school and the old, so I am going to let the fans decide. I will put a poll at the end of this article and you can vote on which jersey I should buy.

But first, let’s look at the options I am considering.
