Detroit Pistons: 3 must-watch games in the 2021-22 NBA season
Detroit Pistons vs Houston Rockets: December 18th
The game itself should be a great watch. Detroit and Houston are two young teams with exciting young cores. Christian Wood is also making a return to Little Caesars Arena, a full season removed from his lone exciting season with Detroit. But this matchup is a must-watch for another reason.
Jalen Green has made it no secret that he is saltier than a ballpark soft pretzel that the Pistons chose Cunningham over him in the 2021 NBA Draft.
"“I wanted to be the number one pick, but as for location, I didn’t want to be in Detroit.” -Jalen Green"
Whether the two players like it or not, a rivalry between Cunningham and Green is bound to emerge after the drama Green has generated.
This will be the second matchup between the Pistons and Rockets of the 2021-22 season. The Detroit crowd will have ample opportunity to show Green how they feel about his comments on the city following the NBA Draft.
Green and Cunningham matched up once during the NBA’s Summer League.
Green scored 25 points, 10 of which came from free throws. The number two overall pick also collected five rebounds and dished out three assists in the matchup.
Cunningham put up a respectable 20 points and two assists in the game as well. The No. 1 pick shot four for nine from beyond the arc as well. But this game is best known for Cunningham crossing Green and sinking a three-pointer immediately after.
What will be the second regular-season matchup between these two young NBA stars , is sure to be a must-watch experience. Cunningham has nothing to prove. He has been quiet about the drama Green has stirred up after the 2021 draft. Green, on the other hand, will have to walk the walk after talking the talk all offseason.
Remember, Green did not diss the Pistons organization, it was the city itself he said was boring.
Whatever the outcome, this could be the beginning of a great rivalry for the Pistons ,as they look to complete their restoration.
