The Detroit Pistons will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight on the road, looking for their second win in a row.
This is also the second game against a top pick from the 2021 NBA Draft, as the Pistons and Cade Cunningham already took on Jalen Green and the Rockets.
The game will be a challenging one for the Pistons, especially after losing Kelly Olynyk, as the Pistons were already thin at center and will be relying on 2nd-round rookie Luka Garza to pick up the slack.
The Cavaliers are one of the biggest teams in the league, with both Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley off to great starts, so this game will challenge the Pistons’ big man depth.
Let’s take al look at the odds, some predictions and how to watch the Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers.
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Odds, spread and over/under
According to WynnBET, the Detroit Pistons are 4.5 point underdogs against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight on the road.
The money lines for the games are +170 for the Pistons and -190 for the Cavs, so the books clearly think Cleveland is going to win this game.
The over/under is set at 203 for the game, insanely low for a modern NBA game, but keep in mind that the Pistons are currently 2nd in the NBA in total points allowed and the Cavs are in the top-20, so this could be a low-scoring, grind-it-out type of game.
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Predictions
The Cavaliers are going to present some real matchup problems for the Detroit Pistons, who are going to have to put Jerami Grant on Evan Mobley.
Isaiah Stewart is going to be crucial in this game, and he has to stay out of foul trouble for the Pistons to have any chance of stopping the jumbo Cavs.
But the Pistons do have some favorable matchups of their own, as Cunningham has a size advantage over the Cavs’ guards and could have a big game taking them to the rack and shooting over them.
I expect this to be low scoring game, but 203 is VERY low, so I’d be tempted to take the over here even though the Pistons have struggled mightily offensively.
The Pistons were able to get out and run a bit against Houston and will hopefully try to push the pace in transition to avoid having to try and score in the half court against all of the Cavs’ length.
