Detroit Pistons: Saben Lee is ready for a shot

Coming into this season, the Detroit Pistons were slated to roll out a high quality bench unit, in part due to the signing of Kelly Olynyk, as well as re-signing some of the bright spots from last year’s bench unit. Unfortunately, they have not quite lived up to expectations, and the secondary back court continues to struggle.

Meanwhile, Saben Lee has been dominating lesser G-League competition, just what you would hope for a guy like Saben who’s already had some success on the big stage. Most of the fan base is calling for his injection into the Pistons’ bench unit, and they just might have a point.

While I don’t think Cory Joseph will maintain this lower level of play all season, I do think Saben would be worth a shot, even if he isn’t immediately given full-time backup point guard duties. His ability to collapse defenses with his impressive speed and change of pace could potentially do wonders for a bench that struggles at times to find open looks.

While Saben’s entrance into the lineup wouldn’t necessarily lead directly to more wins, he could certainly be worth a look for a team that is struggling early.
