Trade value for every player on the Detroit Pistons
Detroit Pistons: Players with next to no trade value
Trey Lyles
Lyles was another guy I thought the Pistons might be able to flip at the deadline, but I doubt his play has inspired other teams to pick up the phone. He was brought to be a floor-spacing big but is shooting just 30 percent from 3-point range and doesn’t really have a position, as he is too slow to defend forwards and gets trucked by centers. If there is a team out there that is entirely desperate for bodies (hello, Chicago Bulls!) then they might be able to move Lyles, but I highly doubt an asset is coming back. The Pistons really have no way to move him unless they just want to give him away, and even that would hardly be worth it, as his next season is a team option that Detroit will almost certainly decline.
Rodney McGruder
McGruder is the 14th man on a team that has won four games, so I can’t imagine other teams are going to be fighting for his services. I think it is far more likely that McGruder plays out this season in Detroit, becomes an unrestricted free agent, and then we never see him in the NBA again.
Luka Garza
Given that he was a late second-round pick who has barely played, I don’t think Garza is on anyone’s wishlist either and doubt Detroit would even get a similar second-round pick for him, as teams would rather take a chance on an unknown rather than a guy who might not be athletic enough for the NBA. Given how small the Pistons are and their depth issues at center, Garza has more value to Detroit than anyone else.
