An optimistic vision for the future of the Detroit Pistons

Possible Detroit Pistons roster in 2022-23

The Detroit Pistons are on the small side right now, but with these moves, they’d instantly transform into one of the biggest and most versatile teams in the NBA:

• Cade Cunningham/Killian Hayes/Saben Lee
• Donte DiVincenzo/Frank Jackson
• Jerami Grant/Saddiq Bey/Hamidou Diallo
• Chet Holmgren/Kelly Olynyk
• Deandre Ayton/Isaiah Stewart/Bouncy Big

That is a ten-man group you can go to war with, as it has shooting, playmaking, shot blocking and depth.

Ultimately, pushing Beef Stew, Saddiq Bey and Killian Hayes to the bench might be the best route for the Pistons, as they are clearly going to be very good role players, but might not be NBA starters, at least not yet.

This team would be really fun to watch and would be deep enough to make another move by either trading Jerami Grant or Hamidou Diallo.

You could easily slide Paolo Banchero or Jabari Smith in there over Chet Holmgren and things still look really good for the Detroit Pistons, who would have arguably a top-5 young core in the NBA, with plenty of room to grow.

You can mix and match players in the starting lineup and bench in a lot of different ways and I feel like this team would at least be competitive for the play-in in the Eastern Conference.

I don’t think any of these things are out of the realm of possibility, so even though the Detroit Pistons are down bad right now, there is still reason to be optimistic for next season.
