The Detroit Pistons won’t be playing on Xmas, so we can all enjoy the holiday without the lingering dread of a loss hanging over the tree.
First off, happy holidays to you no matter which ones you celebrate (or don’t) and we at PistonPowered thank you for reading and hope you are safe and healthy on this Xmas.
The holidays are the time for wishes, a concept Pistons’ fans are used to, as last year at this time we were all writing letters to Santa hoping he’d bring the number one pick.
The Detroit Pistons got their wish and now Cade Cunningham is the hope of the franchise, but the Pistons are still a long way from their goal to be consistently competitive.
I’d take “occasionally competitive” at this point and my wishes for every player on the Pistons will reflect our collective disappointment in the lack of progress this team has made in year two of the restoration.
But there are signs, and I am still happy with where we are, like Tiny Tim, who manages to put on a smile even though he can’t walk and his dad is a bit of a loser.
Without further delay, here is the Xmas wish I have for every player on the Detroit Pistons.
Detroit Pistons: I wish Santa would find these guys new teams to play for
- Trey Lyles
- Josh Jackson
- Rodney McGruder
- Cory Joseph
Without sound too much like the Grinch here, I wish these guys nothing but happiness, but hope they find it on a new team.
It’s probably a pipe dream to believe anyone wants the Pistons’ cast-offs, but none of these veterans are performing well for the Pistons, nor are they part of the long-term plans.
Jackson has been usurped by Hamidou Diallo, who does all of the things he does but better. Rodney McGruder has played a little lately but showed why he shouldn’t, Trey Lyles has been exposed at center and Cory Joseph looks a step too slow to be in the NBA.
On top of that, they are all potentially blocking younger guys who most of us would rather watch, so it’s time for these guys to hop on the sleigh and fly off into a starry winter night.
