The Detroit Pistons will be heavy underdogs on the road tonight against the Boston Celtics, who have been one of the best teams in the NBA in recent weeks.

Jayson Tatum is on fire and has been playing like an MVP candidate for the Celtics, while Cade Cunningham has led Detroit to six wins in their last nine games, their best stretch of the season.

Detroit will be shorthanded, as Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes, Frank Jackson, Hamidou Diallo and Rodney McGruder have all been ruled out for tonight’s game.

The Pistons desperately miss Stewart, whose interior defense has been somewhat taken for granted this season.  Detroit gave up 60 points in the paint in the last game against the Bulls, which will be something to keep an eye on in this one.

Boston has won four in a row and has climbed to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference with eyes on moving up even higher.

Detroit is fighting for lottery position and the Rookie of the Year award for Cade Cunningham.

The two teams have played three tight games this season so far, with Detroit winning one of them, so the Pistons will look to make it tough on the Celtics again tonight in the TD Garden.

Detroit Pistons vs. Boston Celtics: Odds, spread, over/under and best bets

According to WynnBET, the Pistons are a whopping 14.5 point underdog on the road against the Celtics tonight.

By my recollection, that is tied for the biggest spread of the season for Detroit, which somewhat makes sense given that they are shorthanded on the road.

But the Pistons have played well of late and eight of their last nine games have been decided by six points or fewer, including the last six in a row, so I love the Pistons to cover this one even though Boston is heavily favored.

The money lines are set at +800 for Detroit and -1400 for Boston, so it is safe to say the books like the Celtics in this one. Those odds are that high for a reason, Boston is rolling, so if you like the Pistons, take those points and hope they keep it close.

The over/under is set at 216 combined points, which seems about right, as these two teams have played three tight, low-scoring games this season.

But I do think this game will be played in the 110’s, so I’d take the Pistons with the points and the over.

Cade Cunningham has had two big games against Boston and he is your best daily fantasy bet for the Pistons right now, as he has been filling the stat sheet over the last 10 games and will want to show out against Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

I like Marvin Bagley III to have a big game offensively for the Pistons in the starting lineup in place of Beef Stew and if you are looking for low cost/high reward play, check out Saben Lee.

He should get plenty of run with Killian Hayes out and his quickness could give Boston some problems.
