The Detroit Pistons have secretly been the best bet in the NBA over the last three weeks but it seems like the books have finally caught on.
The Pistons have been an incredible 14-0-1 against the spread over their last 15 games, going from a team that was regularly getting blown out to one that is close in every game.
Detroit is getting big contributions from their Big 3, but the role players have still been inconsistent, which is why most of these close games are still losses.
The Pistons are now two games ahead of Houston for the worst record in the league and just a half game ahead of Orlando for the second-worst.
Tonight they’ll take on Portland, who has won just once in 10 games and is in full on tank mode with just about their entire lineup on the injury list.
It will be the first time the Pistons have been favored in weeks and might be their biggest spread of the season.
Detroit Pistons vs. Portland Trail Blazers: Odds, spread, over/under and best bets
According to WynnBET, the Piston are 7.5 point favorites at home tonight against the Trail Blazers.
Detroit is not a team that is normally favored and certainly not by nearly eight points, so this is a big shift in the odds and shows just how shorthanded the Trail Blazers are. They will be missing Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, Eric Bledsoe, Joe Ingles, Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little and possibly Justise Winslow.
The Pistons will be missing Jerami Grant, Frank Jackson and Hamidou Diallo, with Killian Hayes, Kelly Olynyk and Cory Joseph all listed as questionable.
The money lines are set at -300 for Detroit and +240 for Portland, so the Pistons are 3-to-1 favorites to win the game.
The over/under is set at 223, and that is a tough one to call considering how many players are out. Detroit has been scoring more lately but is still one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA and the Blazers are missing half their team, so I like the under in this one.
The question is whether the Pistons will finally break their streak of covering? I don’t think Portland is really trying to win, so I like the Pistons to cover with a final score of around 110-100 .
Your best daily fantasy bets are Saddiq Bey and Cade Cunningham. With Grant out, they should see increased reps and will mostly be playing against Portland’s backups, so I like both of them to have huge games tonight.
With Nurkic and Grant out, I also love Marvin Bagley III in this one even though he is coming off his worst game of the season for the Pistons. He should be able to dominate the backups and may end up in the starting lineup so should get plenty of chances.
