Does Carsen Edwards have a future with the Detroit Pistons?

With only three games left in the season, it’s unlikely we’ll get to see enough of Edwards in a Pistons uniform to decide how he fits within the roster, especially considering they will be sitting most of their veterans.

However, it’s safe to say there’s potential for a long-term fit. As a rotational piece, Edwards boasts a handful of traits that NBA rosters covet. The former Boilermaker is more than capable of creating shots for himself, has unlimited range on his jumper, and can also generate looks for others as well.

While these traits aren’t completely refined, Edwards’ stint in the G-League showed improvements. Even with a high shot volume, Edwards shot the ball at a solid percentage, and didn’t sacrifice his efficiency.

With previous NBA experience under his belt, there’s reason for optimism that Edwards will carve out a role for himself, and capitalize on his second opportunity in the league with continued improvements.

The Detroit Pistons are desperate for scoring, so if they can get a guy who can be a consistent bucket-getter off the bench for cheap, it would be a big win for the franchise.
