Detroit Pistons: The case for Carsen Edwards

I was asking fans if they knew anything about Carsen Edwards and one of them replied, “He’s basically Saben Lee but a better shooter.”

Edwards only played four games with the Detroit Pistons but they were impressed enough by his 27 points per game in the G-League to sign him to a two-year deal, though none of it is guaranteed.

If the Pistons pick up the team option on Edwards next season, they will have to pay him $1.85 million, slightly more than Saben Lee.

The case for Edwards is that he provides more of what Detroit needs (shooting) than Saben Lee, though so far that has all been theoretical, as Edwards didn’t take or make many shots with the Pistons.

Edwards is even smaller than Lee, though both are similar as defenders who are ok on the ball but can be shot over by larger guards.

If the Pistons like Edwards as a scorer, then I could see them jettisoning Lee and picking up his option, but are we really sure either of them need to be on the team?
