Detroit Pistons: Low-cost free agent shooting guards

The Familiar Face

Josh Jackson

I told you this class of free-agent shooting guards wasn’t deep.

Like Culver, Josh Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent and there might be some mutual interest in a reunion with the Detroit Pistons.

Also like Culver, Jackson is a talented but frustrating player who still hasn’t improved as a shooter but has great size for the position and can potentially defend a couple of spots.

Jackson wouldn’t help the Pistons’ horrible shooting, but he is a pretty good defender, brings some energy and toughness and he likes being in Detroit.

If the Pistons were to decline team options on Frank Jackson and Hamidou Diallo, I could see Josh Jackson as a low-cost alternative, assuming that the Pistons added another high-level shooting guard in the Draft or via trade.

Jackson is still miraculously only 25-years-old, and would make sense as end-of-the-rotation depth on a minimum deal. If the Pistons end up with a roster spot and Jackson is still looking for a job, you never know.
