Detroit Pistons: The tradability of each player on the roster
Detroit Pistons for life
If you’ve been keeping track, you know only two players are left. Now, if the Bucks call and offer Giannis or the Grizzlies decide they’re tired of Ja Morant, then there might be a conversation. Barring something as unlikely as that, these two guys are in Detroit to stay.
Saddiq Bey
Saddiq Bey looks like his ceiling is at worst a Mikal Bridges type of player and at best a Paul George. He could eventually be a multi-time All-Star, and he is already one of the best players on the roster. By my count, Bey and Tyrese Haliburton are tied for the third-best players drafted in 2020, behind LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards. Ball and Edwards are sticking with their teams, and the Kings’ front office is so dysfunctional that anything they do, Detroit should do the opposite. Bey is rapidly improving and seems to have embraced his role in Detroit. There is no reason to listen to any unrealistic offer for him, and he might be a career Piston.
Cade Cunningham
I have a question for you. If the Pistons get the second or third pick in the 2022 Draft, would you trade Cade to also get the first overall pick? Probably not, as all the scouting reports from Detriot are looking at who pairs best with Cade. Would you trade Cade for Joel Embiid, straight up? Also perhaps not, given that Cade is only 20 years old and already torching teams on both sides of the ball. Maybe, just maybe, it would be smart for the Pistons to trade Cade for Luka or Ja, but that’s simply not going to happen. I’ve come up with my share of ridiculous trades, but I can’t think of a single one that Detroit would ever pull off that involves Cade Cunningham.
