Russell Westbrook’s fit on the Detroit Pistons

Shot selection aside, I’ve always enjoyed watching Russell Westbrook play. He is a hard worker who wants to win and he’s been an Iron Man for most of his career.

He’s one of the greatest athletes to ever play in the NBA there is no doubt, but he’s also one of the worst volume shooters to ever play in the league.

That’s why he’s not a fit on the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are already one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA and now we’re adding a historically bad shooter to the roster?

He also shoots A LOT, taking virtually the same amount of shots that Cade Cunningham took this season whilst being on a team with two other superstars.

How many bad shots per game do you think Westbrook would be launching for the Pistons? He’d immediately fancy himself the Alpha Dog of the team, so we could expect that number to go back up to the 22 shots per game that he took in his last season in Houston.

He’d be taking the ball out of the hands of Cade Cunningham, and would set back whatever chemistry the young Pistons were starting to build this season.

You want to watch a frustrated Cade standing in the corner watching Westbrook launch mid-range shots all game? Me either.

The Detroit Pistons would be destroying their team chemistry and setting player development back for a guy who would certainly only be on the team for one season.

In the end, this isn’t going to happen, and I expect the betting website only included teams like the Pistons for some free press (congrats! I fell for it) and a whole lot of angry tweets.

My final reason for avoiding Westbrook at all costs is that I have no interest in bailing the Lakers out of their mess. The Lakers are our sworn enemies and we should just enjoy their demise, not help them out of it.
