2022 NBA Mock Draft: Detroit Pistons and pick #5

Scouting Report. Keegan Murray. 5. Pick Analysis. Forward. Detroit Pistons / Iowa. player. 64

If the Detroit Pistons don’t have the deal the Kings are looking for, or don’t think giving up Jerami Grant is a good idea to move up one spot, then they will just take the best player available, which most believe is Keegan Murray.

I am sure some fans would prefer Shaedon Sharpe here and he and Murray present the classic “high floor vs. high ceiling” debate, with Murray thought of as a “safe” pick while Sharpe is more a roll of the dice given his lack of experience.

I think the Pistons would love to add a dynamic guard to put with Cade Cunningham, but if Ivey is off the board, Sharpe might be too big a risk and Mathurin might be a reach that they could get later in the first round if they do end up trading Jerami Grant.

It’s hard to imagine the Detroit Pistons drafting a power forward and keeping Grant, so if Murray is the pick, expect further moves.
