The 2022 NBA Draft is mercifully just a day away and fans of the Detroit Pistons have plenty of questions.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and there were some great ones including everything from Jerami Grant trades to who I like in Irish soccer. I’m going to try to get to as many as possible in this mega pre-draft mailbag, so let’s get to it.

Detroit Pistons: 2022 NBA Draft mega-mailbag

No, there are plenty of ways to fill out the center position and the Warriors and Celtics just showed that you don’t need a dominant one to win in the NBA. If the Detroit Pistons get Ayton, that would be great, but if they don’t, there are plenty of other options, including going with a center by committee or just waiting to see if Isaiah Stewart has another level. I think having a center who can switch and defend the perimeter is vital.

Clearly whoever the Detroit Pistons choose will be the best rookie and win Rookie of the Year. Seriously though, I think all of the top guys will be headed for decent situations, but it could be another situation like this season, where ROY is a tight race and ends up going to the guy whose team has the most success. If the Pistons end up taking Keegan Murray and sniff the play-in, it could be him, as he is ready to play on day one. I also like Paolo Banchero’s chances to have a huge season if he lands in Houston, and a dark horse would be Dyson Daniels if he ends up on the Pelicans or Spurs.

Yes, but not with the 5th pick. Herbert Jones is a transcendent defender and was taken in the second round last year. You can find defenders later in the draft, the Pistons need someone who can score.
