Detroit Pistons in free agency: Option #4

If the Detroit Pistons don’t want to splash out big money on any one guy, they could opt for some of the mid-range free agents and there are some good ones available on the unrestricted market that wouldn’t cost them anything more than money.

The restricted free-agent market is always more of a crapshoot, as the other team can match, but the Pistons could rule the unrestricted market, as they still have more money to spend than any other team.

Here are some names that could be on the Pistons’ free-agent radar:

Gary Harris (SG): Consistent double-digit scorer off the bench who shot 38 percent from long range last season on five attempts per game.

Malik Monk (SG): Had a breakout season for the Lakers, shooting 39 percent from 3-point range on 5.8 attempts after shooting over 40 percent the year before. Monk is still just 24-years-old and could be a nice upgrade from Frank Jackson, though he’ll likely be far more expensive.

Bryn Forbes (SG): Another guy from Michigan, Forbes is a guy we have talked about in the past. He is an elite 3-point shooter, hitting over 40 percent for his career on good volume for a backup. He’d be a nice fit off the bench with Killian Hayes.

Taurean Prince (F): A versatile forward who can play and defend a couple of spots, Prince shot 40 percent from 3-point range last season and would give the Detroit Pistons some depth and shooting at the power forward spot.

Otto Porter Jr.: (F): At his best, Porter Jr. was a guy who scored 14 a game and grabbed six rebounds for Washington and Chicago while shooting over 40 percent from 3-point range. He’s another guy who can play both forward spots and would bolster the shooting.
