The Detroit Pistons are putting together a team of hard-working, talented and likable young players that fans are really getting behind.
There is potential superstar Cade Cunningham, who was the number one pick in the draft and put together one of the best all-around rookie seasons among active players.
There are guys like Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart, hard-nosed role players who definitely fit the mold of Detroit Pistons and the type of blue collar players the city adores.
If we were ranking the most popular Pistons’ players of all time, then Isiah Thomas, Grant Hill, Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups would be high atop the list, with Darko Milicic looking up from the bottom.
But who are currently the most popular players in Detroit? You’ll get your chance to vote below, but first let’s make a case for a few guys.
Who is the most popular player on the Detroit Pistons?
The first and most obvious choice is going to be Cade Cunningham, who is currently the best player on the team and the first potential superstar the Detroit has drafted in nearly 30 years.
He’s not only talented but has embraced the city of Detroit from day one, putting on the Buffs during the draft and constantly repping the city in interviews.
Then you have Saddiq Bey, who is the kind of quiet, tough player that Pistons’ fans have always loved. He’s been an Iron Man for Detroit and was one of the only players in the NBA to start every game for his team last season. He’s already had some huge moments and is the type of blue collar player who would have fit right in on the Bad Boys or Goin’ to Work teams.
Isaiah Stewart already has the best nickname on the team (Beef Stew) and won fans around last season when he tried to fight LeBron James and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers. I hate the Lakers, so even though Beef Stew might have overreacted a bit, I loved it.
Jaden Ivey hasn’t played for Detroit yet, but he will soon be among the fan favorites because of his highlight reel plays. Killian Hayes has plenty of fans, but at this point, he has about as many haters as supporters.
It’s hard to imagine anyone else on the roster being the fan favorite, as the rest are mostly veteran guys who haven’t spent much time in Detroit or young players who haven’t achieved much yet.
So who is your favorite current Piston? Log your vote here and we will reveal the results in a few days:
