The Detroit Pistons will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, looking for their first win of the preseason.
There hasn’t been much to get excited about for Detroit fans so far, as the team has turned in two subpar performances with plenty of turnovers and missed 3-point shots.
They should get a chance to turn it around tonight against a Thunder team that is even younger than the Pistons and is nursing a ton of injuries, probably in a preview of what we’ll see all season from one of the frontrunners in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes.
Yes, it is only preseason, but If the Pistons are going to be the next bad team that gets good, these are the kinds of games they have to win. They are at home for the first time against an inexperienced team, so it would be disappointing if Detroit didn’t perform better than they have in the first two preseason games.
Here is everything you need to know.
Detroit Pistons vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Odds, Spread, Over/Under
According to FanDuel, Detroit is six point favorites at home against OKC, the first time they’ve been favored this season.
The money lines are set at -250 for Detroit and +198 for OKC. The Thunder are potentially missing six players including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey (not to mention Chet Holmgren) so if Detroit can’t win this one, it might be time to panic.
There are no points total or over/under for this game.
Pistons injury report
Alec Burks, Nerlens Noel, Kemba Walker, Kevin Knox and Hamidou Diallo are all listed as day-to-day and unlikely to play tonight against the Thunder. Rookie Jalen Duren, who was flashing signs of elite defense, is also likely out with a shoulder injury.
Detroit Pistons vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Prediction
With so many players out, it’s tough to predict what we might see tonight, but the Pistons simply need to be better. You can’t put too much pressure on a preseason game, but Detroit does not want to enter the season having lost four preseason games in a row, which is likely if they don’t win this one.
So Detroit should come out motivated, and I am certain Cade Cunningham wants to have a big game after struggling and then being fairly quiet in the first two.
Detroit 110, Thunder 95
