The Detroit Pistons have only won one of their first three games, but they still haven’t had their full complement of players.
It has shown in the second unit, which is missing Alec Burks, Marvin Bagley III and Nerlens Noel, and just got Isaiah Livers back after he missed the first two games. The bench has put up some ugly numbers in the first three games, but hopefully more help is coming.
It’s still way too early to know what the Pistons’ biggest weaknesses are, though it is looking like a wing stopper will be high on their list of needs even once the roster is back to full strength.
Making hypothetical trades at this point in the season doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but that didn’t stop Greg Swartz from Bleacher Report, who recently put out an article with some interesting trade ideas for every team.
He put together one trade with the Pistons and the Clippers that would be sure to anger some fans and delight others.
Detroit Pistons: Trade with the Los Angeles Clippers
Here is the proposed trade. You may recognize a couple of the names, as one of them was a former player and the other one used to write for us here at PistonPowered.
At first I scoffed at the idea of bringing Luke Kennard back, as he was a very divisive player when he was in Detroit, but has since morphed into one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, leading the entire NBA in percentage last season.
Burks and Noel will likely be hot trade targets at some point in the season, and on paper, this trade makes some amount of sense for both teams, especially the Clippers, who are in “win now” mode and could certainly use two more veterans to add to their already impressive depth.
At this point in the season, it’s silly to even consider, as Burks and Noel haven’t even played yet, but I’ll play along for the sake of argument.
Would the Detroit Pistons consider this move?
