Less than a month from the NBA trade deadline, Detroit Pistons sharp-shooter Bojan Bogdanovic is expected to be the bell of the ball should any team be able to pry him from Detroit. One team specifically who could benefit from Bojan’s services is Pistons divisional rival, the Milwaukee Bucks.
As the Bucks look to contend for a championship this season, they will likely be buyers at the trade deadline in hopes of adding pieces to support a potential title run. Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton has been plagued with injuries this season. Adding some shooting should Middleton’s injuries linger will likely be the biggest priority at the deadline.
Bogdanovic fits the mold of that need. An older player who can shoot the ball at a high rate, currently playing for a younger team that could benefit from longer term assets. Seems to make sense for both sides on paper, right?
The Detroit Pistons aren’t going to ship Bogdanovic for a low price should he be dealt at the deadline, so Milwaukee would likely have to give up draft assets and a young player to make a deal work.
After Bogdanovic signed a two-year extension with Detroit earlier this season, there is added value to his contract as a potential trade suitor isn’t acquiring someone on an expiring deal. Bojan would be on the books to contribute for a contender for two additional seasons, should he be traded.
This is additional leverage for the Pistons, making their case strong to receive back draft capital and young players in a Bogdanovic deal.
But do the Milwaukee Bucks have the young player and/or draft assets to make it work?
