Detroit Pistons: Huge Bojan Bogdanovic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers

From the point of view of the Detroit Pistons, they’d be getting three expiring contracts, one of which, Lonnie Walker, is actually a pretty good player. He’s averaging 14 points per game on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range and is only 24-years-old, so potentially fits their timeline if they thought he was a fit and wanted to re-sign him

The big prize would be that 2027 pick, as the Lakers could stink by then, which would give the Pistons a chance to add a top pick to a team that will HOPEFULLY (please for the love of God) be good by then.

This pick would also be valuable as a potential trade asset if the Detroit Pistons wanted to make a move for an impact player, as the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to do last offseason. A trade like this does make some amount of sense for the Pistons, as it could potentially be much more than just the late first-rounder they are getting offered from most of the Bogdanovic suitors.

It makes far less sense from the Lakers point of view, as I am not even sure this trade makes them that much better, and certainly does not guarantee (or even make likely) that they will make the playoffs.

Bogdanovic is a consistent lights-out scorer who can’t defend, and as we saw last night, Nerlens Noel’s best days are likely well behind him.

This would be the ultimate desperation move for the Lakers, but given that their window to win another title with LeBron is closing quickly, they may be willing to make it. We’ll see which team blinks first as the trade deadline gets closer.
