The Detroit Pistons have consistently been mentioned in NBA trade rumors as the February trade deadline inches closer.
Most of them revolve around Bojan Bogdanovic, who is having one of the best seasons of his career and would be a nice fit on a number of contending teams.
Saddiq Bey is another player the Detroit Pistons could move, and he’s been mentioned as a possibility for the Miami Heat, who are looking to add depth for a run in the playoffs.
Detroit has been mentioned as a seller in most deals, though they could get involved for a guy like John Collins from the Hawks if the price is right.
This is thought to be a seller’s market, as the league is wide-open right now and practically every team thinks they have a chance to at least make the play-in. Action should start heating up even more after January 15th, as there is a whole new group of players eligible to be traded, including some big-time names.
While none of these players are likely direct trade targets for the Detroit Pistons, their future cap space and trade assets could make them a player in a multi-team deal if a star is on the move.
Detroit Pistons: NBA players eligible to be traded after January 15th
Now that January 15th has passed, all restrictions have been removed from players who signed extensions and there are some big-time names now eligible to be traded.
- Deandre Ayton (Phoenix)
- Mo Bamba (Orlando)
- Nicolas Batum (LA Clippers)
- Bradley Beal (Washington)
- Chris Boucher (Toronto)
- Vlatko Cancar (Denver)
- Nic Claxton (Brooklyn)
- Ami Coffey (LA Clippers)
- Dewayne Dedmon (Miami)
- Lu Dort (OKC)
- Tyus Jones (Memphis)
- Zach LaVine (Chicago)
- Kevon Looney (Golden State)
- Cody Martin (Charlotte)
- Jusuf Nurkic (Portland)
- Jordan Nwora (Milwaukee)
- Victor Oladipo (Miami)
- Bobby Portis (Milwaukee)
- Mitchell Robinson (New York)
- Anfernee Simons (Portland)
- Jae’Sean Tate (Houston)
The big names here are Beal and LaVine and there have been rumblings about both considering the Wizards and Bulls have both underperformed this season and may need to blow it up. Both teams seem reluctant to do so, but we could see one or both of these two All-Stars moved before the deadline.
The Detroit Pistons would love to get their hands on Lu Dort, as he is the type of tough wing defender they need, but his team-friendly contract and fit with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander make him unlikely to be traded.
Another name to watch in an possible trade with the Milwaukee Bucks is Jordan Nwora, who is the type of 3-and-D glue guy the Pistons could use.
The Detroit Pistons are far more likely to be a third team in any deal involving any of the big names and I am sure we will continue to see them mentioned in trade rumors until the February deadline has passed.
