The NBA trade deadline is inching closer and the Detroit Pistons are in the middle of it once again.
As a bad team with valuable veterans, the Pistons are going to continue to be mentioned in trade rumors, most of which revolve around Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.
Burks is an interesting case, as he is one of the league’s top 3-point shooters and would clearly be a nice add to any contending team looking for scoring and depth.
But he may have more value to the Pistons, a young team that needs veterans and shooting, both of which are in short supply on their roster.
Trading either Bogdanovic, Burks or both would be a step back for the team, so they have to weigh the value of these two against any possible return, which would probably at most be a late first-round pick.
Teams around the league are hoping the Pistons will lower their price, but Detroit has made it clear that they are not going to deal their veterans for a “crap pick” (to quote Zach Lowe).
It’s going to take a substantial offer that the Pistons either think will help make them better next season or is just too good to pass up.
One NBA insider had an idea, but I am not sure this meets the bar of too good to pass up.
