How does Johnson fit with the Detroit Pistons?

Johnson gives the Pistons an athletic wing who can make an impact on both sides of the floor.

On his career, he averages 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game on 46.4 percent shooting and 37 percent from three.

From the field, he can be a bit inconsistent, and has shown some regression from 3-point land this year. Johnson is shooting 34 percent from three this season on seven attempts per game, after shooting close to 40 percent last year on just five attempts per game.

On the defensive end, Johnson will likely not be one of the league’s top defenders any time soon. However, I think that he can be a positive playing alongside a Pistons two-big lineup with Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren.

He rebounds well for his position, and can help when needed in a switch onto a bigger man.

For what the Pistons would need to give up to acquire Johnson, I’d expect the Spurs to ask for nothing less than a first-round pick.

I’m not sure if Weaver would be willing to give up one of his firsts easily, so I’d guess that some sort of protection would need to be included for another team to acquire a Pistons first.

I do think that Johnson is one of the stronger pieces that the Pistons could acquire, so they’d need to sweeten the pot for San Antonio to get the deal done.

A top-10 protection allows the opportunity for the Pistons future first to remain a solid lottery pick, though they will hopefully be better by then. The pick would also give the Spurs more ammo to make future trades.
