Detroit Pistons: Are the Dallas Mavericks done dealing?

One interesting part of the Irving deal is that it only involved one first-round pick way down the road in 2029, meaning that the Dallas Mavericks still have picks they can trade.

With Irving on board, they may decide their time to win is right now, especially since you never know what the future will bring with Kyrie. He could decide he doesn’t like Texas, go into a rabbit hole looking for JFK’s assassin or join the Texas Rangers, who knows.

Dallas still has their own draft picks between 2024-2027, so may try to add another talented player at the deadline and really make a run at a title. They have to be feeling some amount of pressure to win with Luka now, as he isn’t going to be satisfied forever and the Mavs want to keep him happy.

They still have unprotected first-round picks at their disposal and could easily swing another deal for someone like Bojan Bogdanovic, who would be a great fit next to two guys who get as much attention as Luka and Kyrie.

It’s still a long shot, but you can’t rule Dallas out yet. And there are still other factors that could affect the Detroit Pistons.
