Detroit Pistons: 2023 NBA Mock Draft

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Forward. Jarace Walker. 6. Houston. 64

The top-tier prospects are off the board for the Detroit Pistons here, however Jarace Walker would be a great piece to add to the team’s core.

Jarace Walker is a 6-foot-8 freshman, playing for one of the NCAA’s better teams in Houston. Walker is big, and would bring physicality into the Detroit Pistons’ frontcourt.

He’s a strong interior scorer, giving Cade Cunningham and or Jaden Ivey a pick-and-roll threat who can also work for some second chance points down low.

Walker will be close to 20 years old on draft night, making him not a super raw freshman, like the Detroit Pistons’ Jalen Duren was coming into the league. That said, Walker will still be a bit of a project, but he could add an intriguing element to Detroit’s rebuild.

He is also a strong rebouder, and is shooting 36 percent from three this year with Houston. Averaging close to a double-double in college, Walker could take some of the load off of Duren, Isaiah Stewart or James Wiseman on the glass. As a versatile defender with a long wingspan, he may be a great fit in Detroit.

Would the Detroit Pistons take a flyer on another player who is similar to Beef Stew? He has more long-term upside, but it would be a pick that a lot fans wouldn’t like.
