The Detroit Pistons are heading into a huge offseason in which they hope to add the pieces to become a competitive team in the Eastern Conference.

Troy Weaver is under some amount of pressure to put an improved product on the floor after four years of tanking that culminated in the worst record in the NBA.

Luckily, the Pistons do have the means to do it, as they will have a top-5 draft pick, cap space and open roster spots to fill with upgrades.

They will also be getting Cade Cunningham back, which could be the biggest addition of all, as he played just 12 games this season and will be looking to make a big leap in year three.

But the Detroit Pistons could also be active on the trade market, especially if they fall in the draft, and though some of them are untouchable, they do have some primo trade assets if the right deal presents itself.

Here are the Pistons top-6 trade assets heading into the offseason.

For the purposes of this, I am going to break one of the assets into three different parts based on where they pick in the draft.

#1: The first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

If the Detroit Pistons were to land the #1 pick in the draft and the chance to draft Victor Wembanyama, that would instantly be the best trade asset they have. But there is absolutely zero chance they would trade it, as he is going alter a franchise in many ways. Wembanyama not only has MVP potential, but one team president thinks he could bring $500 million to a franchise.

If whoever gets the #1 pick did want to trade it, there would have to be a generational package on the table that included someone like Luka Doncic.

#2: Cade Cunningham

The former #1 pick is not going anywhere in a trade, so there’s no need to worry about that, but even after missing nearly the entire season, he’d still fetch a haul on the market. Cunningham has everything you need to be a star in this league and I know I’m not alone when I say I can’t wait to see it next season.
