Detroit Pistons: Potential free-agent fallout from each playoff series

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

I really hate these two teams, is there a way they can both lose?

A second-round playoff exit would be considered failure for either of these teams and could cause them to re-think the ceilings of their current rosters.

If the 76ers lose, James Harden may be gone, as the Houston Rockets are reportedly in heavy pursuit. If they win, and go on to the NBA Finals, it seems more likely he could work something out with Philly and run it back.

For the Celtics to not make the Eastern Conference Finals would be considered an abject failure and may cause them to reconsider the whole Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown pairing. Brown just made the All-NBA team, which will make his super max contract worth nearly $300 million.

If the Celtics were to fail to make the ECF, would they consider trading Brown this offseason before his free agency?

Aside from Harden and Brown, there is also Grant Williams, who has become an afterthought in these playoffs and barely gotten off the bench. This can’t have helped his free agency and may make his next contract more affordable for a team like the Pistons, who could use his defense and shooting on the wing.
