Detroit Pistons: Best and worst free-agent fits with Cade Cunningham
Detroit Pistons: Best and worst free-agent fits with Cade Cunningham
Kristaps Porzingis
Porzingis has always preferred to play the four rather than the five, and in Detroit, he could do that. Whether Wiseman or Duren is the tower next to him, Porzingis can concentrate on doing the things he likes and the things that he’s good at. He shot 38.5 percent from downtown last season and 49.8 percent from the field. His 23 points and eight boards would be nice to inject into the mix. He’s 27-years-old and potentially on the verge of being the most wondrous unicorn he’s ever been, and that would absolutely be fantastic to see manifest at Little Caesars Arena. It would be fun to watch him run some pick and pops with Cade or catch lobs on the roll. He has the length that Weaver is known to covet and would help space the floor. My only question is his attitude, which is a tough read. He’s had his moments of being a prima donna. Can he be a true team player?
Kyle Kuzma
Kuzma, as everyone knows, has local ties as he hails from Flint. Would he be interested in a homecoming? If so, Weaver would have to kick the tires on the possibility. At 2- years-old, it’s a good bet he’s about to play the best basketball of his career. In order to do so, he has to make a good choice and go to the right organization. The Wizards are going nowhere. Beal is destined to go elsewhere. Why would Kuzma re-sign there? He’ll certainly have suitors. It’s uncertain how many of those will be able to offer as intriguing a package as the Detroit Pistons. A homecoming, good money, and an important role in the prime of his career would have to be worth entertaining. He scored a career-high 21.2 points per game last season. He’s a good rebounder. It’d be nice if he was a better 3-point shooter than he is, but he is decent and might yet improve.
