The 2023 NBA Draft is shaping up to be a wild one and the Detroit Pistons could be at the center of the action.

Pistons’ GM Troy Weaver hinted that he would go for “the big fly” in the NBA Draft and not play it safe, so we could see him take a prospect like Ausar Thompson.

Of course, there have also been various reports that the Pistons might trade the 5th pick, either for a proven talent who can help them win now or to move back and reap additional draft assets.

If the Pistons do keep the pick, there are at least five or six guys they could choose without surprising anyone, including Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker, the Thompson Twins, Taylor Hendricks or Anthony Black.

Just about anything and everything is in play, especially with teams like Portland and Dallas looking to move their picks for win-now talent. So be prepared for a lot of action and remember to mute certain NBA writers on Twitter if you don’t want the picks spoiled before they are announced.

Detroit Pistons: When is the NBA Draft?

The 2023 NBA Draft is tonight at 8:00PM ET and will be aired on ABC/ESPN, though you can probably get the picks ahead of time on Twitter if you are into killing the drama.

There will be plenty of it as soon as the Charlotte Hornets are on the clock with the 2nd pick, as they have been back and forth on Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller and could even trade the pick in a massive deal.

Pick three could also be up for grabs depending on who the Hornets choose, as the Trail Blazers are another team that might want to move that pick in a big deal.

Regardless of what happens before them, the Detroit Pistons should get to choose from a talented group that will likely include one of the Thompson Twins, Cam Whitmore and Jarace Walker.

We won’t have to wait much longer to find out, as one of the most important NBA days of the season is soon to unfold. Buckle up.
