The Detroit Pistons are coming off a brutal 2022-23 season in which they only won 17 games and led the league in injuries.

It wasn’t fun to watch (endure might be the better word) but we did see signs of a promising future with rookies Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren both having very good seasons. The additions of Monte Morris, Joe Harris, Ausar Thompson, Marcus Sasser and Cade Cunningham should make the team more competitive on both ends and hopefully help them to crawl out of the NBA cellar.

Fans didn’t get the big-time free agent they were hoping for, but these should be impact additions that will move the needle for the Detroit Pistons. There is also the potential for a roster-balancing trade before the season starts, so we can hopefully expect more than 17 wins next season.

And now we know what they’ll be up against, as the NBA has released the full schedule for the 2023-24 season.

*Updated 11/30-23* The Pistons wil also play the Memphis Grizzlies at home on December 6th and on the road vs. the Orlando Magic on December 8th. Both games will start at 7:00 PM ET.

We’ll have a lot more about the schedule in the coming days, but a quick glance shows the home back-to-back against the Suns and Warriors on November 5th and 6th will be big ones for ticket sales, and the Pistons later have a road back-to-back against the Lakers and Suns on the 13th and 14th of February.

New Year’s Day at Houston should be fun, as it will be the first meeting of the Thompson twins, and we’ll get our first look at Victor Wembanyama in a home game on January 10th.

There are still two games to be scheduled after the results of the In-Season Tournament. Much more about the schedule coming soon.

Detroit Pistons NBA In-Season Tournament schedule

The Detroit Pistons are not likely contenders for the Larry O’Brien trophy next season, but they will have an outside shot at the inaugural NBA Cup in the In-Season Tournament as part of East Group A.

  • 11/10 vs. 76ers: 7:00 PM ET
  • 11/14 vs. Hawks: 7:00 PM ET
  • 11/17 @ Cleveland: 7:30 PM ET
  • 11/24 @ Indiana: 8:00 PM ET

Detroit went 2-13 against these teams last season, but this won’t be the same team that was injured and tanking for most of it. The Pistons will come into this tournament hungry to prove themselves and could catch some teams sleeping if they aren’t taking the event seriously.

With Monty Williams on board and Cade Cunningham back, excitement is high around this team even though they were the worst in the league last year.
