Cameron Carr was one of the standouts of the NBA Draft Combine, which isn't great news for the Detroit Pistons' chances of drafting him.

Carr appears to have improved his draft standing in just about every way at the combine, as his combination of measurements, athleticism and eye test made him one of the standouts.

Carr's wingspan, which is over seven feet, was tops for a guard and his 42 inch vertical was the second-highest in the combine overall.

He also looked great in scrimmages, using his athleticism and length to get buckets in transition while also knocking down an array of jumpers. He has all the tools to be a great defender, so the chances of Carr falling to the Pistons with the 21st pick are getting slimmer every day.

The Detroit Pistons still have ways to land Cameron Carr

Carr's lanky frame, length and shooting ability are reminiscent of Pistons' great Tayshaun Prince. Carr is not as tall as Prince, but has the length to defend up, and put up similar 3-point shooting numbers as Prince in college.

Most of the talk this offseason has revolved around the Pistons' need for secondary ball handling and scoring, but they don't necessarily need to address that in the draft, as they have other needs.

The Pistons need some size and shooting on the wing, and Carr hit nearly 38 percent of his 3-point shots on over six attempts per game, so he would fit the mold without giving up anything defensively. And while Carr isn't yet a shot creator, he could get there, and in the meantime would provide some much needed movement shooting on the wing.

The problem is that after his showing in the combine, it's unlikely that Carr falls to the Pistons with the 21st pick as many previous mock drafts have predicted.

The Pistons do have one weapon at their disposal, which is an abundance of 2nd round picks that they could potentially use to move up a few spots. It really depends on how high Carr goes, as Detroit probably doesn't have the ammo to move into the lottery unless they want to give up players or future 1st-round picks to do it. It's still a possibility, but the further Carr falls, the better the Pistons' chances.

There are always players who help their stock in the combine, which doesn't always translate to success in the NBA, but Carr ticks a lot of boxes for the Pistons and has already shown star potential that could tempt them into bigger moves around the 21st pick.
