The Dallas Mavericks went from the NBA Finals to the laughing stock of the league in a matter of one year.

Trading franchise star Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis was the start of the downfall for Dallas, but fast forward to the last few months, which have forced Mavericks fans to watch Davis be shipped off to the Washington Wizards and head coach Jason Kidd relieved of his duties, it's clear that a reset is on the way for the Western Conference squad.

For a team like the Detroit Pistons, the mess in the Lone Star State is presenting them with the perfect opportunity to improve their roster this offseason, and it all comes courtesy of former Mavs' general manager Nico Harrison.

Pistons could cash in on Mavericks firesale

Obviously, Kyrie Irving is the one player every team is monitoring in Dallas this offseason, and the Pistons very well could be keeping tabs on the fluid situation regarding the All-Star guard's future.

Beyond Irving, the Mavericks have multiple players who could be up for grabs this offseason who could immediately offer a boost to playoff teams. The one name that comes to mind for the Pistons is Naji Marshall.

Still only 28-years-old, Marshall is coming off his career-best season in Dallas, averaging 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 51% shooting from field goal range and 29.1% from three.

The veteran forward earned a larger opportunity with the Mavs this season, with the abundance of injuries to the roster, and to say he seized the extended minutes would be an understatement.

There's no doubt that the Xavier product is young enough to still be part of the team's plans, but given his career year, it may be wise for the Mavericks to capitalize on his value now.

Marshall will gain interest on the trade market if he's made available, considering his team-friendly contract and production, and with only one year on his deal remaining, it would be wise for Dallas to move on before they lose him for nothing.

As for Detroit, landing a playmaker like Marshall would immediately give them an option to bolster their bench unit or potentially fill in a starting role that would only give J.B. Bickerstaff more options to choose from.

Regardless, if the Pistons truly are committed to building a title contender around star guard Cade Cunningham, Detroit has to be monitoring the situation out West to ensure they don't miss their chance to land a big upgrade for cheap.
