Trajan Langdon entered the offseason with a to-do list headlined by improving the roster.
The Detroit Pistons second-round exit made it clear that the roster Langdon built wasn't ready to get over the hump, and with the lack of help on offense for Cade Cunningham, it was clear that any move this season should come by way of adding scoring help for the team's star guard.
Detroit's reported interest in helping facilitate the blockbuster domino to send Giannis Antetokounmpo to land Tyler Herro makes perfect sense, but that's just one of the targets tied to the Pistons this offseason.
Outside of Herro, Detroit has been linked to Trey Murphy III, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, and even Zach LaVine, and the idea of pursuing Lauri Markkanen has been mentioned.
Obviously, until any deal gets over the finish line, every report should be taken with a grain of salt.
At the same time, the amount of smoke about an aggressive offseason for the Pistons on the horizon proves that the team may have finally taken note of the message Cunningham's dominant postseason sent.
Cade Cunningham is ready to lead a title contender
For nearly every team in the league, there's a bit of hesitancy to make an aggressive move until you find out if your franchise star is ready to lead the team to a title.
Cunningham's All-NBA season alone proved he was close to being ready to make the jump, but his playoff run in particular did enough to suggest he's ready to be that guy.
Through 14 games, Cunningham averaged 28.1 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds on 43.2% shooting from field goal range and 40.2% from beyond the arc.
Not to mention, his stats alone don't even put into words how huge his ability to be clutch in close games was for the Pistons in the postseason.
Everything Cunningham put on display in the playoffs proves he's ready to lead a title contender, which alone should give Detroit confidence to go all out this offseason to improve the roster around their superstar.
And based on the reports about the team's interest in nearly every big name deemed available this offseason outside of Antetokounmpo, it shows that the Pistons understand they have their guy to build around.
Detroit is bound to make an aggressive move this offseason, and that should excite Pistons fans who have been waiting on that for quite some time now.
