The Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks

The Pistons and Knicks have made several trades over recent years and there has been speculation that another one could be on the way.

The Knicks needed depth at center and the Pistons have some to give away, along with a need to collect draft assets for 2025, so a potential deal did make some sense.

This trade has ended that possibility, unless the Pistons want to get involved in the Mitchell Robinson market, as the Knicks are reportedly shopping him.

He does block shots, but given his injury history, the Pistons couldn’t justify taking on the two years remaining on his deal unless there were some motivations to do so. Robinson is a salary dump at this point, but the Knicks aren’t likely to attach assets just to move him, especially when KAT has had injury issues of his own.

This should more-or-less cross NY off the list of potential trade partners, at least in deals involving a center.

The ripple effects also extend to Minnesota.
