Happy NBA Draft day! The Detroit Pistons have the 5th pick and if you can correctly guess what they are going to do with it, then you know more than me.

We’ll have to wait until tonight for the action to unfold, but the Pistons have been busy anyway, as last night they hired Dennis Lindsey as senior VP of basketball operations.

I wrote about Lindsey during the search for team president (kudos to me for choosing Langdon) and his wealth of experience as a former GM. Between him and Langdon, they have a very good track record selecting players, but then again, so did Troy Weaver.

I may be jaded at this point (15 years of being terrible will do that to a person), but I’m withholding all excitement until I see something positive on the court.

Who am I kidding? I’ll be back in on day one and talk myself into whoever they add to the roster, but I’m going to pretend as to protect myself from inevitable disappointment.

Here’s the latest rumors and information on the NBA Draft, possible trades and free agency, which just got a lot spicier.

Detroit Pistons Draft

There has been painfully little information trickling out of the Pistons’ camp when it comes to the Draft.

Most experts have them taking Matas Buzelis with the 5th pick, but don’t be shocked when/if something else happens, as Langdon is playing this close to the chest.

Buzelis makes some sense as a jumbo wing who can defend, but his shooting is concerning, which may make the Pistons look elsewhere.

I expect we won’t know much until the moment the Pistons are called with the 5th pick tonight, so stay tuned.

Luckily, there is more information floating around about trades and free agency, some good, some uninspiring.
