The NBA Draft Lottery is just four days away and once again the Detroit Pistons are hoping to enjoy some elusive luck.

The Pistons don’t have the greatest history of luck in the Draft Lottery, including last year, when they dropped to 5th in what was the worst-case scenario.

Even if they land the #1 pick, there are no certainties in this draft, as no one can agree on who will go number one and there aren’t any players with the projected ceiling of some of the stars that have emerged from the last three drafts.

This could lead to a lot of teams looking to trade out of the top 3, which could open up some possibilities for the Detroit Pistons if they land one of those picks, or if they fall all the way to 5th again.

Detroit Pistons lottery odds

As you probably know by now, the Pistons have a 14 percent chance to land the number one pick and just over 52 percent chance to stay in the top four, though I am not sure it matters as much this year.

Their highest odds for any one pick are for the 5th, for which they have a 47.9 percent chance.

The Pistons don’t even have a decision maker at this point, so there is no telling what direction they plan to go in the draft, but what if they fell to 4th or 5th? Would they consider trading back to pick up an asset and still get a prospect like Dalton Knecht?

Would they consider trading up? That’s exactly what happens in a recent trade proposal.
