Fixing the Detroit Pistons' roster: The point guards

The Detroit Pistons could be set at point guard depending on what they do with Killian Hayes and Monte Morris.

Hayes has been solid of late, but has he done enough to warrant another contract? If he were being signed to be the backup point guard and nothing else, it might be worth bringing him back on a cheap deal.

Same with Monte Morris, who is the type of veteran the Pistons lack this season. The big question mark around him is the severity of his injury, as he has yet to play this season and likely won't until February. Will that be enough time to evaluate his fit with Cade Cunningham? Possibly.

He should be back just before the 2024 trade deadline, so it's possible the Pistons will move him if they need his contract to match in a trade.

The free-agent point guard group isn't deep, so the Pistons might not have better options than bringing these two back. A name to watch is Mike Conley Jr. who is an unrestricted free agent and would be a nice veteran fit as a defender who takes care of the ball and shoots 3's at over 40 percent.

Point guard is probably the least of the Pistons' worries.
